You've got 2 years on your PSW visa. Here's how not to waste them.
The Graduate route gives you 24 months to find sponsored work. Most international graduates spend 18 of them applying wrong. The strategy that works isn't on your university's careers page — here's what is.
What’s holding people in your situation back
- Applied to 50+ jobs with no response
- Don't know which companies actually sponsor
- Competing against UK graduates with local networks
- CV looks the same as everyone else's
Target the sponsor register first
Build your list from the Home Office sponsor register — every company licensed to sponsor is on it. Filter by your sector and size. This list is your universe. Everything else is noise.
Get your CV past the 7-second screen
UK recruiters spend 7 seconds on the first pass. Your top third of page one has to earn the read — role-specific headline, measurable achievements, clean UK formatting. No photos, no objectives section.
Start networking before you need to
The people who get sponsored aren't always the best qualified — they're the ones someone knows. Connect with 5 people a day in your target roles. Engage genuinely. Ask for a 15-minute call after a few weeks.
